ReciprocalLink.Com / Ask ReciprocalLink.Com / Question 2

At ReciprocalLink.Com, we try to answer your questions pertaining to reciprocal links. While we can not answer every piece of E-Mail individually (though we will try!), we will list common questions and answers here. If you have a question regarding reciprocal links, visit our comments page.

2) I e-mailed a webmaster asking to trade reciprocal links but received no response. Should I ask again?

A: Webmasters are very busy people. For many webmasters, handling reciprocal links are not their top priority. In fact, they usually aren't second, third, or fourth priorities. If you do not receive a response within a week or two, a POLITE follow-up shouldn't hurt. Mention that you understand they are busy, and just wanted to remind them of the offer in case your E-Mail message got lost in the shuffle. If you still receive no response, my recommendation is to not send any more follow-ups.

Why?

If a webmaster sees a multitude of link requests from the same person regarding the same site, they probably will just chuck the messages. Your opportunity to trade links could then be forever lost.

Give webmasters time to respond to your reciprocal link inquiry. It is not uncommon to receive responses several months or even a year after making the first request. It may not be the best way to do business, but it is the way business is done.
