Don't Forget Traditional Media!
With all of the talk about free-for-alls, search engines, and link campaigns,
it is easy to forget that most people are not on the Internet 24-7. While,
according to recent studies, most people still find websites via links on
other sites and search engines, a growing number of people find websites
through traditional media, such as by regular mail.
When planning your advertising campaigns, don't forget to think beyond the
Internet. There are many ways to use traditional media to promote your website.
If you have a direct marketing campaign, when you mail out brochures or
pamphlets, include your website address in your promotions. When you hand
out business cards, always include your website URL and E-Mail address.
If you don't already have a postal mail campaign, consider developing one.
You can either purchase mailing lists, or you can attempt to collect a list
from your website visitors. One way to promote your website by mail is by
using
WebCards(c).These
postcards
contain a full-color image of your website on one side of the card. On the
back, you can have a message printed or write a message of your own. Plus,
since they are postcards and not letters, the postage is cheaper. One nice
thing is that you can receive
free
samples before you order a complete package.
Whenever or wherever you talk about your business, be it online or off, be
sure to mention your website. By not doing so, you are missing a great marketing
opportunity. While everyone is not connected to the Internet right now, a
growing number of people are doing so. If you mention your web address enough,
people may remember to visit it when they connect.
